After the Enron scandal, laws were passed to regulate corporations. Now, 6 years later, Corporate America and the Bush administration have assembled a committee who will submit new legislation (laws) to reduce that regulation (get rid of other laws) becase they cost businesses money.

Reference of the day to make you look smart: Brazil is in Latin America, but Brazilians don't speak Spanish, they speak Portugese.

* 3rd quarter growth (economic activity from July throug September) slowed down to 1.6% (3% is typically average). But the slowdown is entirely the fault of just the real estate market's downturn. So, outside of real estate, everything's okay.

Reference of the day to make you look smart: The potato, while associated with Ireland, is originally from the mountains of Peru. Before they brought the potato over to Ireland, the Irish ate oats. The reason the Irish switched is that you can grow more potatoes on one piece of land than you can oats.
